Known as French Riviera of the East, Pondicherry, which was once a French colony in India, attracts many for its beaches, laid back cafes and water sports activities. Pondicherry is also home to Sri Aurobindo Ashram and Auroville, experimental community where people from all over the world could live in harmony. Here is our curated list of the best things to do in the city.

1. Rhythm Concert by D.Imman

 

Suryan FM, one of the most established FM radio stations in Tamil Nadu is hosting a Rhythm Concert with D. Imman on 6th July at Lawspet Pondicherry. One of the most accomplished and successful film music composer and singer in India, D. Imman primarily works in the Tamil film industry. His career spanning about 20 years has composed music for more than 110 films and along the way won several laurels and awards.

 

2. Permaculture Workshop

The Solitude Farm and Organic Kitchen, Auroville is conducting a 3day Permaculture Workshop on July 5th – 7th. Permaculture is the conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive ecosystems which have the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems. The workshop at Auroville will help you design your own Permaculture gardens and utilize various features of the ecosystem better.


3. Electronics Workshop

LMES ( Lets Make Engineering Simple) began their journey via social media (YouTube and Facebook) by delivering short video blogs explaining science and engineering concepts. They are conduction an Electronics Engineering Worskop at Heritage Town, Pondicherry on 7th July from 10am – 1pm. It’ll introduce kids to the world of Electronics.

4. Brooklyn Quartet

The Brooklyn Quartet is a play organized by the Auroville Theatre Group at the Indianostrum Theatre, Pondicherry. The play is from 7pm – 9.30pm on 5th July. It is a profound play about growing up in America – black, brown, white – in a society that is increasingly polarized around issues of race, color and money power. A story that can break your heart and touch your soul, spreading the message of Love.

 5. Sita Cultural Centre

Sita Cultural Centre in Pondicherry offers a mix of Indian and Western traditions. It famous Franco-Indian cultural centre and is visited by tourists across the globe. It is located on the Candappa Mudaliar Street and offers various fun classes for tourists. It provides various classes like Indian cooking, Kolam, Ayurvedic medicine, yoga, Pilates, and Tamil language.
